Cleaning Recommendations for Lutron Products
Many of you have asked about the best way to clean your Lutron lighting control products, such as dimmers, switches, keypads, wall stations and faceplates, without affecting their finish or operation.
The following guidance provides recommendations for cleaning our products, and applies to the various colors and finishes such as Gloss, Satin Colors, Architectural Matte Finishes, Architectural Metal Finishes and Glass Finishes.
If Lutron product surfaces are dirty, the dirt can be cleaned using a damp cloth with a mild soap and water.
For deeper cleaning of Lutron products, including application of disinfectants recommended by the EPA for use against COVID-19, use hydrogen peroxide based disinfectants. Commercially available hydrogen peroxide disinfectants are identified on the EPA’s website. To find them navigate to the EPA’s List N: Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2 and search for “Hydrogen Peroxide” in the search bar above the table.
Application methods can be in the form of a single-use wipe or liquid solutions. Liquid solutions are best used by dampening a clean cloth (single use) and using it to wipe down the surface of the Lutron product. Follow the disinfectant manufacturer’s guidelines for concentration levels and contact time for disinfection.
Use of disinfectants with other active chemicals such as bleach, isopropyl alcohol, ethanol, and others may result in degraded plastics or icons on your Lutron products.
