Starting in the second bedroom of their small, New York apartment, the pair built a makeshift laboratory where they quickly realized that combining Joel's inventive and conceptual mind with Ruth's practicality made for a successful business that delivered aesthetics, world class technology, quality and services. Together, they were able to focus on the big picture and take the existing concept of lighting beyond its limitations, developing innovative products known for their unwavering quality. By leaning into their visionary thinking and symbiotic relationship, they created the very first dimmers and sliders that reflected their purposeful and intentional decision making. The result? Lighting that became a seamless part of people's lives and showcased the duo's ability to address challenges, while creating the most efficient lighting possible.
